Title: Philip Henry
Philip Henry's principal dream in life after he retired and the kids were grown up was to travel to Japan. Unfortunately six months before he did retire and was to receive his gold watch for service he passed away.
When given the opportunity of travel to Kyoto in 2002 I decided to pack my father into a suit case and fulfill his dream.
Philip Henry chose to do a ceremonial walk over the ridge between the Kurama and Kibune valleys outside of Kyoto. It was 90% humindity. He dressed in a sky blue polyester safari suit, the type he always wore to special occasions. To commemorate his walk, Philip Henry took a self-portrait at each temple and shrine he visited. the warmth of the sun and the harshness of the light reminded him of home.
